ErgoAir® AIR PAW® AV gloves provide a high level of hand protection and comfort when using vibration and shock generating hand tools. The patented ANTIVIB® glove air bladder insert reduces shock and vibration energy transmitted to the hands from these tools. With respect to prolong tool use, this decreases finger tingling and numbness, hand and wrist fatigue and soreness, and reduces the potential for developing symptoms related to hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS). AIR PAW® AV gloves allow for comfortably griping tool handles, while receiving good tactile feedback during tool operations. Specially designed AntiVib® air bladders can be wrapped around tool handles, giving them the same level of protection and comfort as is received from AIR PAW® AV gloves. |

Personal Protection Gloves Tested as Part of U.S. Department of Defense Program |
|
A major program to developed an awareness of and indentify ways of reducing worker exposure to hand-transmitted vibration in U.S. naval shipyards and military maintenance depots was undertaken by the U.S. DOD Defense Safety Oversight Council (DSOC) and managed by the Acquisition and Technology Programs Task Force (ATPTF). As part of this program, sixteen styles of gloves from manufacturers that identify them to be antivibration (AV) gloves were tested at the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) per the requirements of ISO 10819. Gloves were also tested to determine their effects on grip effort. Of the sixteen styles of gloves that were tested, gloves from only two manufacturers were found to meet the requirements of ISO 10819 to be classified as antivibration (AV) gloves. As a result of evaluating both the vibration attenuation and grip strength characteristics of the gloves that were tested, the NIOSH team made the following observation in their briefing to the Acquisition and Technology Programs Task Force in a presentation that described their test results:
Gloves O, P, and Q were ErgoAir® AIR PAW® AV gloves that contained ErgoAir® AntiVib® glove air bladders, and Glove I was another manufacturer's AV glove that contained an ErgoAir® AntiVib® air bladder and that is no longer in production. |
